Raiders to resume PJHL schedule at home Feb. 4

Ready to play - After more than a month on the sidelines, the Napanee Raiders will return to the ice Feb. 4.

NAPANEE – After more than a month on the sidelines due to the omicron variant, the Napanee Raiders will be back on the ice for 10 more regular season games.

On Monday, the Provincial Junior Hockey League announced a revised schedule for the Tod Division following the provincial government’s announcement of scaling back public health restrictions beginning Jan. 31.  The Raiders will open at home against the Campbellford Rebels Friday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. as they resume activities to finish a 30-game slate.

Balancing the schedule based on games already played, the Raiders will not play the rival Amherstview Jets again in the regular season. They’ll face the Rebels and Port Hope Panthers three times each and the Picton Pirates and Frankford Huskies twice.

The Schmalz Cup playoffs begin March 7.  The top two teams in the Tod Division will receive a first-round bye, while the third-place team will play the sixth-place team and fourth-place team and fifth-place team will play best-of-seven series.  More details about the playoff format will be announced in the coming days.

The Raiders organization understands that fans will be allowed at its home games at 50-per-cent of total capacity.  All spectators age 12 and up must provide proof of vaccination and identification.  More information about in-rink protocols will be communicated as available.  Tickets for regular season home games remain $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors, and $5 for children under 12 accompanied by adult.
